The Best Original Song Winners Through the Years

So listen, I understand. Lady Gaga is very talented and who knew Bradley Cooper could sing? But I just could not understand the hype over A Star is Born and the now Oscar winning song "Shallow". There's been so many iterations of the movie (1937 with Janet Gaynor, 1954 with Judy Garland, 1976 with Babs) that I already knew the story and really didn't have any reason to go and see this latest version. My personal feelings aside, let's take a look at some other notable winning songs over the years and I'll let you decide if 'Shallow' deserved the win or not.

1939: Over the Rainbow - Wizard of Oz

1940: When You Wish Upon A Star - Pinocchio

1942: White Christmas - Holiday Inn

1964: Chim Chim Cher-ee - Mary Poppins

1984: I Just Called To Say I Love You - The Woman in Red

1987: Time of My Life - Dirty Dancing

1994: Can You Feel the Love Tonight - The Lion King

1997: My Heart Will Go On - Titanic

2013: Let it Go - Frozen

2016: City of Stars - La La Land
