GOSHEN – The Orange County Legislature this week will consider granting its Rules Committee subpoena power to conduct its own investigation of the county Industrial Development Agency and any potential wrongdoing by the agency or any of its stakeholders.

The district attorney’s office has already secured guilty pleas from three former officials – Vincent Cozzolino, Laurie Villasuso, and Edward Diana. But now, the Rules Committee wants to hold hearings, subpoena witnesses, and secure documents to ensure that all monies paid to the three defendants by the IDA and its sister agency, the Orange County Funding Corporation, are repaid to the county.

By pleading guilty, the three have already committed to repaying what they received through the IDA and Cozzolino’s Gallileo Technology Group, which was hired to manage the county agencies.

The lawmakers will vote on the resolution to investigate on Wednesday.

Rules Committee Chairman Thomas Faggione declined to comment to Mid-Hudson News Sunday evening, only to say that the resolution speaks for itself.
