A cop channeled MacGuyver to save a stabbing victim and it worked.

New York City Police Department officer Ronald Kennedy arrived at the scene in Harlem on July 7th and used an unconventional method - tape and an empty bag of chips - to treat the wound.

In body cam video footage shared by the NYPD, Kennedy is heard asking a bystander to go get him a bag of potato chips. The man runs into a nearby bodega and returns with the chips, which the officer empties and then he asks for tape from the store. Kennedy asks two people to help lay the victim down on his back and begins taping the chip bag onto his chest to cover the stab wound and slow the bleeding until an ambulance arrives.

In the video, Kennedy is heard telling the victim to relax and assuring him, “we got you.” When paramedics arrive, he tells them, “I tried. It’s the best I could do with what I got.” They took the victim to Harlem Hospital, where the attending doctor says Kennedy’s quick thinking saved the victim’s life.
