RHINEBECK – Village Police in Rhinebeck are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed one village highway department truck and damaged another.
The fire was first reported at 1:37 p.m. on Saturday.
Truck 8 was a total loss and Truck 5 sustained collateral damage, Village Clerk Martina McClinton said.
Both vehicles were parked next to the rear entrance to the garage.
The fire department quickly knocked down the flames prevented any visible damage to the garage, she said,
Camera footage was turned over to the police for investigation.
McClinton said the fire will delay brush pick-up and blacktopping.
The village will be working with their insurance carrier to replace the vehicles.
