Happy Halloween
Wednesday 10-27-2010 3:24pm ET
This weekend is Halloween! Ghosts, goblins, children, candy and costumes. What a fun time for the family! It's important to remember some safety tips as you head out the door to do some trick or treating.
NEVER go into a strangers house or ring their doorbell without your parents present.
NEVER cross the street without looking both ways and making sure it's clear of cars.
NEVER forget to tell your parents where you are and who you are with (this tip is for older children).
NEVER vandalize someone's property. "Egging" or "toilet papering" someone's property may sound like fun on Halloween, but if you get caught you and/or your parents could get into some serious trouble with the law. Be respectful of people's property.
NEVER eat your candy without your parents checking it first.
NEVER dress inappropriately. Halloween is a time to dress up as someone or something that you are not, but your costume should be age appropriate.
ALWAYS have fun!!
ALWAYS be careful!!
Have a safe and happy Halloween!!

Apple Pie Yummmmm
Monday 10-11-2010 3:13pm ET
Hi it's Claire from Studio 92! I've been teaching Zeke how to bake and cook and I thought this weekend was the perfect weekend to teach him how to bake an apple pie! We headed out to Weed Orchards and picked Cortland apples (the ladies at Weed highly recommended this type). For me simplicity is best when I cook, so this apple pie recipie is almost as easy as picking one up at the local grocer or farm market!
12 apples, cored, peeled and sliced thin 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup cinnamon 1 stick butter (half for the pie and half for the crust) 4 tsp of flour Ready made pie crust
Peel, core and slice the apples nice and thin. In a large mixing bowl combine the apples, sugar and cinnamon. Mix until all the apples are covered with the mixture. I don't ever measure anything when I cook so use what suits your taste buds; more or less. Add in a half sick of melted butter; mix well. Add in the flour; mix well. Put the mixure in your pie crust. It's going to look like you have too many apples to fit in the crust but apples shrink during baking. Pile em up high and put the top of the crust on. Make slits in the top of the crust to air. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 mins. Take out of the oven and brush the top fo the crust with the remaining half stick of melted butter. Put back in for another 30 mins until the crust is golden brown. Let it sit for 20 mins. Scoop out some of your favorite vanilla ice cream and voila; Apple Pie ala Mode!! Enjoy!!
